Family mosaic workshop in Iteuil

A restful art

Today, we're going to test my Father's Day gift: a Family mosaic workshop in Iteuil. My two daughters and my wife had this good idea because even if I already mastered painting and drawing, I always wanted to try mosaics. Tania Bedin therefore opens the doors of her studio to us on this Saturday morning.

She invites us to sit around a table where all sorts of intriguing tools are arranged. The girls want to handle everything and ask a lot of questions about the usefulness of these utensils, which Tania answers with pleasure. She then presents all the materials that we will be able to use to make our creation in a few minutes: marbles, Venetian smalts, glass paste, colored mirrors, millefiori, pebbles, shells, crockery, … we are spoiled for choice!

Tania ends all her explanations with good advice to guide us a little: first choose the design you want to reproduce and the choice of materials will be made naturally afterwards!

We choose, we break and we glue!

The girls don't want to wait another minute to choose the work they are going to reproduce, and therefore rush towards the Tania's library with his permission, of course. We leave them a few moments with their mother while we finish admiring the materials that will soon make up our work. The girls make us laugh because they are already bickering over who will achieve the princess or the dragon from the fairy tale book in their hands. Elisa finally decides on a fairy and Emily on a photo of a rose-like flower.

While they are going to choose colors and materials, it is therefore our turn to choose our designs. I choose a starry night landscape and my wife something abstract based on green and white colors. Once everyone has everything they need, we attack!

Using a hammer we break our pieces of glass, smalts or shells to the right size, and we gradually fill in the drawing that we had reproduced on a support dedicated to hosting our collage.

Tania guides us as we progress and we also have fun sharing what we are making so that everyone can add a little extra touch. A good hour later, we are delighted with our achievements of which we are super proud! For sure, we'll post them on our walls when we get home! What beautiful moments of sharing and caring, and as a bonus, very beautiful memories that will remain in memory!
