Moulin de Comprigny
Located on an ancient Gallo-Roman site in the north of Poitou, near the Château de Marçay (1km) and the historic town of Chinon (10km), the mill of Comprigny was built at the beginning of the XNUMXth century in the town of Beuxes .
Built on marshes, it has counted up to 21 mills including 12 water mills on its territory. The mill of Comprigny is the only survivor of the vagaries of time.
The Maumont spring, 500 meters upstream from the Comprigny stream, supplies this mill, which was initially fitted with 2 bucket wheels, each 2,40 meters in diameter.
He ceased all milling activity in 1919.
Its current owner represents the 5th generation and, thanks to his inexhaustible energy and passion, has restored this architecture to the cachet of its beginnings for more than 30 years. After 100 years of inactivity, the first bucket wheel turns and gives this mill its soul of yesteryear.
