In the same room, place at 360° show. Optical illusions follow one another on the vault of the room: starry sky, collapsing dungeon, the projected images carry you away in a mysterious whirlwind over the centuries.

The Bourbon Gate: fortified entrance

Another impressive vestige is the Bourbon Gate, the last medieval gate still standing. It recalls the city's strategic role during the feudal era. Flanked by turrets, it opens onto the city like an invitation to step back in time. The Bourbon Gate is the only main entrance dating from the 12th century still standing today. The Saint-Louis Gate to the north and the Guyenne Gate to the south have long since disappeared.

The detail not to be missed: take a look at the top of the door, you will see the La Roche-Posay coat of arms proudly enthroned there!

The passage through the Notre-Dame church is a must. Built between the XI^th and the XIV^th century, its defensive architecture is atypical to say the least. Push the door to discover the 17th century sculptures^th century which adorn the interior and the colorful stained glass windows of the 20th^th century letting in a soft and subdued light.
