An international star thanks to its thermal water with numerous virtues, the small town of La Roche-Posay also hides a remarkable medieval heart with numerous ruins, to be discovered during your stroll. Only 1 hour from Poitiers and 20 minutes from Châtellerault, this town is well worth the detour! Nestled in the countryside, it enjoys a peaceful location near picture-postcard villages like Angle-sur-l'Anglin!

The unmissable Dungeon of La Roche-Posay

Place to discover the Dungeon of La Roche-PosayBuilt of tuffeau stone, it rises to 23 meters. With such dimensions, it is impossible to miss it, it overlooks the entire city! Inside, two unexpected experiences await you.

In the Echo Room, the walls speak... Settle into a corner and let yourself be carried away by the fascinating stories of the exhibitions.

In the same room, place at 360° show. Optical illusions follow one another on the vault of the room: starry sky, collapsing dungeon, the projected images carry you away in a mysterious whirlwind over the centuries.

The Bourbon Gate: fortified entrance

Another impressive vestige is the Bourbon Gate, the last medieval gate still standing. It recalls the city's strategic role during the feudal era. Flanked by turrets, it opens onto the city like an invitation to step back in time. The Bourbon Gate is the only main entrance dating from the 12th century still standing today. The Saint-Louis Gate to the north and the Guyenne Gate to the south have long since disappeared.

The detail not to be missed: take a look at the top of the door, you will see the La Roche-Posay coat of arms proudly enthroned there!

The passage through the Notre-Dame church is a must. Built between the XIth and the XIVth century, its defensive architecture is atypical to say the least. Push the door to discover the 17th century sculpturesth century which adorn the interior and the colorful stained glass windows of the 20thth century letting in a soft and subdued light.

Treat yourself to a moment of sweetness

Thermal water from this place, renowned worldwide for its benefits for the skin, offers a delicate sensation, like a caress. Enriched with silicon, it is beneficial for all those who immerse themselves in it.

The spa offers treatment rituals using the famous La Roche-Posay brand, a first in this institute! Located in the heart of the spa and medieval town, the La Roche-Posay Spa offers you a sensory experience to fully enjoy. Many treatments are offered to target specific needs such as fatigue, stress, signs of aging, detoxification and vitality.
