kids choice
Hear ye, hear ye! Ladies and valiant knights, have you ever wondered how stone giants like the Collegiate Church of Saint-Pierre de Chauvigny were built? Now's the time to uncover all its secrets! Become the apprentice of the master builder of the Donjon de Gouzon at the Museum of Industrial Archaeology and embark on a great construction adventure!
When building becomes child's play (or almost!)
Fall for the perfect manual activity: become an apprentice builder at the Donjon de Gouzon!
Just a few steps away, a master builder awaits to teach you the secrets of building a Romanesque vault. An immersive adventure to become an expert on medieval techniques. Ready to build like real architects?
The master builder opens the doors to a magical world! Here, ancient tools straight from a treasure chest are used to prepare the stone, just like in the time of the knights. How were the Gouzon Keep, the Saint-Pierre Collegiate Church, and Harcourt Castle built? (Almost) as if by magic! These stone giants, standing for centuries, still watch over the city... Perhaps a magician's spell protects them!
The mission: a medieval vault under construction!
Once you've gathered all the information, the guide places pieces of wood in front of you and gives you a top-secret mission: rebuild a Romanesque vault, one of the most important elements of medieval buildings! It's up to you to play like real builders.
The hardest part is keeping everything balanced! Construction is an art. After 45 minutes of testing, finally, a solid Romanesque vault. Victory! The project manager inspects the work and proudly presents you with a builder's diploma. Congratulations!
