Hôtel de Ville de Poitiers

Built between 1869 and 1875, of Renaissance inspiration, the town hall is distinguished by its U-shaped plan and its rhythmic facade, decorated with side pavilions. The center is magnified by the presence of the main door, topped by a loggia, a clock and a campanile. This architectural style, characteristic of the Second Empire, combines classicism and monumentality.

The interior of the town hall is equally remarkable. The main room, a former ballroom, retains a parquet floor inlaid with the city's coat of arms and a magnificent stained glass window representing Eleanor of Aquitaine. The different rooms offer a glimpse of the rich past of Poitiers and bear witness to the administrative function of the building.
