Église Saint-Denis

The Saint-Denis church, in Jaunay-Clan, built on the way to Saint Jacques de Compostela, on the site of an ancient destroyed Roman city, takes its name from the first bishop of Paris who died as a martyr, beheaded in Montmartre in 273 AD.

The stained glass window of the North Chapel was executed in 1976 by a painter from the town, Aristide Caillaud. The oldest parts of the building date from the end of the XNUMXth century.

The church has been listed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments since 1913.

Not to be missed: the choir is enriched with the crucifixion triptych, the work of master glassmaker Max Ingrand from 1967. This triptych replaces a XNUMXth century glass roof.
