A vast oak grove of 800 ha, the national forest of Saint-Sauvant is managed sustainably by the Office National des Forêts: in addition to the production of timber and the protection of biodiversity, welcoming the public is one of the functions of the forest: several marked hiking trails, remembrance trail (war of 39-45), equestrian and mountain biking circuit.
The forest is crossed by the GR 364 joining the woods of the Grand Parc de Lusignan to those of Rom in Deux-Sèvres. A discovery trail enhances the family outing from the new reception area in the southern part of the forest. In the northern part, the path of the ponds makes it possible to discover a fauna and a flora very characteristic of the humid environments.
