Installed in a 17th century house, this museum offers you a journey into the past to better understand and apprehend the habits of our ancestors.

Come and discover the mores, habits and customs of yesteryear through the reconstruction of a Poitevin interior from the 19th century, the trades room or even an important collection of headdresses.

Through objects from Chauvinist archaeological sites are illustrated the Neolithic and protohistoric periods (Bronze Age and Iron Age), the life of the Gallo-Romans with in particular a rich collection of ceramics, as well as the Middle Ages with discoveries from the castles of the city: glassworks, ceramics, game pieces, etc.

A series of models illustrates the urban and rural evolution of Chauvigny since the 3rd millennium BC. BC, through the Middle Ages.
