Chapelle Funéraire Sainte-Catherine

Back

By act of July 10, 1476, Pierre du Boschage, parish priest of Jouhet, founded a chapel dedicated to the Virgin, Saint Catherine and all the saints. This chapel, which stood in the cemetery which has now disappeared, perhaps replaced an older construction. The tombstones marked with a cross still visible near the altar could be vestiges of this primitive construction.

The facade is pierced by a Gothic door whose arch is charged with a cross in relief. Above, a niche is made under a mitred arch. It probably contained a statue. A small bay at the top of the gable overlooks the attic.

The chapel has a wooden Christ on the cross from the 15th century which, following its restoration, was reinstalled on December 11, 2019.
