St Peter’s Church - Saint-Pierre-d'Exideuil

Built at the end of the 11th century, this church stands in the centre of the old cemetery amongst curious à chevalets or trestle tombs , which are laid out like dolmens. The semi-circular apse unveils obscene sculptures on the modillions. The main doorway dates from the end of the 11th century, and a 13th century wall painting depicts the Holy Ghost surrounded by cherubs. Nearby: Château de Leray and Saint Nicolas' Church in Civray.
