Centre for Romanesque Art - Loudun
The Centre is in an exceptional location and has a superb collection of carvings dating from the 12thC originating from the region of Loudun. An area is devoted to the understandaing of the Romanesque bestiary.
The Sainte Croix Centre shows to what extent Loudun's architecture was influenced by the Romanesque style. The Romanesque Art Centre serves to underline the town's rich history and to show off its cultural heritage. There are five exhibition rooms : a prestigious collection of 12th century Romanesque chapel from various places of worship in and around Loudun and a room explaining the Romanesque bestiary. Outside the centre, beautiful flower beds accentuated by amazing original Romanesque vaults. Also to see : Loudun and its rich cultural and historical heritage.
